The Crush

I've always been a girl who has had her eye on a guy. Whether it be someone i actually knew or someone that i saw on TV. I have always had a crush on someone. And when we think of crushes we think of ourselves when we are in grade school only. Well i have come to realize that at age 31 I still develop these crushes.

CRUSH HISTORY:

My first crush was when I was in 3rd grade. Johnny Gray was his name. He was my next door neighbor. He was an older man, a 4th grader. Johnny was a friend of mine and we would play all the time. I was one of the guys. I spent my entire Elementary carrier trying to get him to see me as a girl and more. It never worked. I will always remember him fondly as wearing his yellow football lace up shorts with tall tube socks and his chilly bowl hair cut.

My first Movie Star Crush was this man, Han Solo. Yes, his real name is Harrison Ford, but I didn't know that. He was charming, strong, brave and stubborn. The perfect combo. Till this day he gives me butterflies. And if there is ever a moment that i run into him on the street I know I will not be able to contain myself.

My First TV Crush was the Duke Boys. Bo and Luke Duke. Every Friday at 8 I would sit in my "I Heart the Duke Boys" Night gown and watch them cause a ruckus in Hazard. That floppy hair, tan faces, southern accents = Double the Crush.

In 3rd Grade I subscribed to BOP Magazine. I would find my crushes in there and cut out the posters and paste them all over my wall. I was obsessed. I was boy crazy for sure.
My top three crushes went as follows:
Ralph Macchio 3rd grade - 6th grade. After seeing him in Karate Kid he had my heart. Sure he was skinny and lanky, but that is what made him so attractive to my little heart. He was the underdog and he won in the end and got the girl. I remember him being from New Jersey and wondering where that was in relation to where I lived and how i could get there to find my own young Karate Kid. I had the script to the movie and would memorize it during reading time in 4th grade social studies. Watching him kiss Allie buy the water slide stole my heart and that is when i knew i wanted to kiss a boy one day. And if i played my cards right it could in fact be him. Bonzi Daniel La Russo, Bonzi!!

Kirk Cameron 3rd grade - present: Aw, the boy next door crush. Watching him grow up on Growing Pains made me into the woman I am today. His curly hair, witty attitude, and cool fashion made me his biggest fan. I was such a fan of Kirk that a group of girls and I joined his fan club. We would have sleepovers once a month, tease out our hair as big as we could get it, spray an entire can of Final Net on it, find the coolest florescent clothes we could find and take our pictures holding up a poster of him. We later would mail him the pictures. I am sure he still has them somewhere. I even practiced my kissing techniques on him. Yes, he was my first fake kiss. I never got anything from him in return until 2004. My boss at the time knew him manager. Called him and had Kirk on a conference call. Kirk was on the set of Growing Pains filming a reunion show. In a week I was sent a autograph photo of him made out to me. I cried when I received it. I guess some crushed don't die.

Corey Haim 5th grade - 8th grade: Bad boy crush. Corey was always getting into some kind of trouble so he was considered bad. I had to keep the posters of him on the back of the door to my closet. My mom wasn't a fan of me liking him. But there was something about his mouth that intrigued me. He was my James Dean. Oh Corey, if you would only stayed off drugs we could have worked out.

Adult Crushes:

Val Kilmer High School- College:
Who could forget Ice man. The cocky loose cannon on Top Gun. Finally my crushes were after
men rather than boys. Val Kilmer really won my heart in Tombstone. I loved him as Doc Holiday. He still gets me when i watch that film. I think the crush stopped after seeing him in At First Sight. It just disappeared. But if I ever want to rekindle that feeling again I go back to his earlier, more lean and fit, movies. By the way, you looked good in the Batman outfit.

Jimmy Fallon 2000-2005: In real life I have always been attracted to funny guys, so how perfect that I am attracted to Jimmy. After watching him on SNL I always felt that we could be a perfect match. He would be the perfect guy to bring home to Mom and Dad. One thing that always got me about him was that he would always laugh at his own jokes and ruin the skits. This was something that we had in common which is why we were perfect for each other. He lives in NYC and one day I will meet him and he will fall madly in love with me. I am certain of it.

This Brings us to Present time.

Derek Jeter- NOW: I have always thought that he was cute while watching him play ball but over the past year I have developed a real deal crush on the man. He is everything that is attractive to me. Leadership, Strong, Athletic, well groomed, team player, smart, a hero. I get to see him at the stadium when I go and I am sure that will be the closest I will ever get to him. And that is OK with me. I feel that if I did meet him I would be so extremely uncool. But I will cheer for him in a distance and pretend that he loves me.

In a City of 8 Million People...

I run into more people that I know on the street.

You would think that it would be hard to see anyone you know in a city FULL of people. You would think that it would be hard to be at the same place at the same time as anyone you know.

Think Again....

Saturday while shopping in Soho. I hear someone yell, "Jamie Chitty!!" When i turn around i see Brooke Bennett, a college friend of mine. What are the odds? She was visiting with her family for a quick weekend of shopping. We chatted for a bit. It was great to see her.

We didn't think to take a picture of it so i don't have one to post.

But i do have this to post..... Spandex are so in this year.

God Bless the Firemen!!

So Tuesday Night while doing the dishes I smell a smell a sweet smell burning. Almost like a plastic burning. I look around and see nothing so I forget about it. When i walked into the living room I notice a light flashing outside the window. I think to myself, "what are the fire department doing outside now?" After last week I was prepared for anything. But it wasn't the fire department outside. IT WAS A FIRE!! There was a fire in our ally way next to our apartment and it was close to my window. I immediately looked for my phone to call 911, as i am pretty good at that now. I Hear the sirens from the trucks immediately, man they're fast. I put the leash on the dog and go to get the cat. But she, of course runs under the bed. So i run outside to get the pup to safety first. I leave her out with my neighbor and head back in the building. Ya, i know I'm not supposed to do that but it wasn't like the building was on fire. I eventually grab Bailey and look for her carrier. Can;t find it, of course. So i cram her in a puma bag, which she can easily get out of. We go outside and watch the strong men do their job. The fire was out in seconds. I was impressed with my "cat like" reflexes. Everything was OK and my place was safe. Just a little smoke in the apartment. I brought the lil' ones back to the apartment and went back out to watch the firemen work. They were so many that responded. Here are some shots at the 7 fire houses doing their jobs. God Bless the FDNY!!!

Is It Spring??

In the South it's a nice 70-80 degree weather. I know this because every time I talk to my parents on the phone my Dad likes to rub it in.

Friday on my in to work it started snowing.
And it didn't stop all weekend. Snow, Snow, and more Snow in Mid-March. This isn't right.
We made the most of it and spent the day outside playing in it.

Just Another Night in NYC

Hello all. If you want to hear about what happened last night email me at jlchitty@gmail.com.

I am not going to post the story online because I don't want it to be open to the public. But it's too interesting of a story to keep to myself.

Three Days, Three Star Sightings

The weather was fabulous this weekend. So that means everyone was out and about. No more of this staying in business. It's time to go play in the park. Saturday while walking through Washington Square Park I was on the phone with my mom. I had to interrupt her to share the exciting news.
This man walked right by me. Can you guess who he is????

Why it's the lovable Matthew Broderick. He was trying to call someone on his cell but couldn't get an answer. He was walking back and forth to the two playgrounds in the park looking for someone. Someone that i believe to be Sarah Jessica and their son. Oh yes, i followed him. I thought he would lead me to the treasure of a SJP Sighting. They both live in my neighborhood but i have yet to see them.
On Sunday while sitting in the same park with my friend Angie we were talking about how everyone was happy that they could go outside and play. I told her that we have to keep our eyes pealed because you never know who you are going to run in to. And as i was finishing that sentence my favorite songwriter and musician Rufus Wainwright walked right in front of us. I almost went up to re-introduce myself to him because the one time i DID meet him i was a weirdo and not cool at all. I wanted to redeem myself. But i decided to let him be. This morning while walking down my street to the subway stop i passed by the V Bar (A coffee bar at day and a wine bar at night). When walking I have a tendency of sounding like i am stomping. It sometimes scares people. I was the only one on the street besides this guy standing outside the V Bar smoking. My stomp of course made the loner turn around only for me to see it was the Oscar winning actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He nodded with his blank stare and I too nodded back. I was not able to take a photo as you see here.A Tony Winner, Grammy Winner and an Oscar Winner. Who will be out this week?????

Oh so Bored....

I haven't been busy this week. I've been really bored actually. Slow week at work, slow week with my social life. It's been 11 degrees all week so I never want to leave the apartment. The sun is out today so I guess that's a good sign.
I am so used to the Go-Go-Go kinda life that when I get too much slow down time I don't know what to do with myself. This weekend I have 3 things planned so I guess that will get me out of the apartment some. Keep your fingers crossed that my life becomes interesting soon.
