The Coldest Drink In Town

"Monchichi Monchichi, I see an ICEE..." This is the little song that me and my brother Rick made up one Wednesday night while coming home from church when I was 7. We knew that if we sang it loud enough and long enough that my Dad or Mom would get annoyed and pull over so we could get an ICEE. No, the song was not great, not really sure what it meant, but it worked and that's all that matters.

Since I can remember ICEE has been a big part of my life. I think i have had at least one a day since age 5. Each flavor reminds me of something. Blue Raspberry reminds me of riding in our neighbors convertible up to the local 7-11 to get one on a hot summer day, yes i was barefoot.
Peach and Coke Mixed reminds me of stretching at cheerleading practice in High School gossiping about who's dating who.

Now that I live in NYC i don't get to have my 2-3 ICEE's a day like I want. It's something I miss dearly about the South.

The other day I had a discussion about my ICEE knowledge with a New Yorker friend. He grew up here and did not believe me that there were more flavors than Coke, Cherry and Blue Raspberry. I was shocked. I could not believe that someone could miss out on all the joy that ICEE's can bring. We also had a discussion about what was better, ICEE or Slurpee's from 7-11. Both made from ice, both delicious, but in my eyes ICEE wins hands down. ICEE's are not just a cheap connivance store treat, they are a vision of truth and justice to society today.
So to prove to him and the world on my ICEE Knowledge and my love for the drink it's self here are some facts.

Did you know:
ICEE was created in the late 1950's and is 40 years old. It has been around longer than I have. It is sold in over 30,000 outlets Nationwide and in Canada and Mexico. Over 300,000 are sold each year, i contribute to half of that. The Highest amount of ICEE's are sold in July seeing how they are mostly sold in the South, that makes since. The most popular flavors are Coke, Blue Raspberry and Cherry. Roger Clemens is a spokesperson for all over Texas serving "Rocket Fuel", a new energy drink by the ICEE Company. The ICEE Southern Owner and Distributor is based out of Benton, LA and is Mr. Festervan (see photo below). My dad is personal friends with him. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it Long Island Boy.

Here is the new Machine. Back in the day the machine was white and you couldn't see the ICEE being made. Here are flavors Peach and Green Apple. Now you can have more than 2 flavors to choose from when you go to a gas station. Also, the machines are self server now. You are able to mix up your flavors as you wish.

As you can see there are 6 flavors to choose from. White Cherry, Orangesicle, Blue Strawberry, Peach, Strawberry, and the Classic Coke.

Surprise Mom!!!!!

This weekend my mom turned 60 (I'm sure she wouldn't want me telling too many people that.) Rick and I decided to fly in and surprise her for her Birthday and have a surprise party for her. She was very surprised. I had a hard time making up lies the whole time to try to fool her. Kinda felt bad about it. Sorry mom, but it had to be done.

Thursday Morning i flew in and walked into her work just like it was any other day. She had to do a double take. So she thought that was it, no more surprises.

Friday, i told her i was running to the store to get something. When really i was going to the airport to get Rick. We got back to the house and walked in. Again, she was surprised.

Saturday, we had a surprise party for her at the Baker's house. 30 of her closest friends came and even her brother all the way from Houston. She had no idea.

Here are some photos from the weekend. I decided to have a 60 in the 60's theme. 60's music, candy, decor, and trivia. Sometimes my brother likes to pretend he's a princess. (it looks like he's bald, sorry Rick)Dad and Mr. David really are made for each other.

I got to see my childhood best friend Danielle's little girl. She's a month old and named after one of my Cabbage Patch Kids.

Weekend in a Nutshell

Unexpected Rain storm Saturday night and was caught with only one umbrella. A very romantic moment. Too bad it was with my roommate. All day Sunday at the park i heard a flute like sound circling around me over and over again. I finally found what it was. The New York Pied Piper. He used to Elmo Doll to appeal to the Kids and the buff bod to appeal to the ladies.
Round and Round he went. No one followed, thank God.

Happy 9th Birthday!!

Yes, I am a single girl who owns a cat. Does that make me automatically crazy? I don't think so. At least I hope not.

I picked my kitty out 9 years ago during my last year of College. I finally was going to live off campus for the first time so I was finally able to own a pet.

If you know my family you know that we are animal lovers. We NEVER turn away animals. Even Alligators.


I thought about getting a Dog but realized that they are too high maintenance. I decided on a kitty. On May 7th, 1998 Bailey Belle Chitty was born in Searcy, AR. She has lived everywhere, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Trips to North Carolina, and Now is a New York City Cat.


This May 7th she had her 9th Birthday. She has been a great kitty, comforter, and fuzzy friend for 9 years. I hope i get 9 more with her.

Rocketman Is BACK!!!

Yesterday I was at the Yankee game enjoying a nice and sunny Sunday afternoon. It was a slow game until the 5th-7th inning when it began to get nasty. There was a lot going on between the players with running each other over, being hit by pitches, the dug out and bull pin emptying out for a fight., etc. Funny how men are somewhat the same from Jr. High right into adulthood. No one threw a punch. They just stood there saying, "come on, i dare you".

During the 7th inning stretch Take Me Out to the Ballgame Started playing like usual. But then without warning it stopped. An announcement came over the speaker, "attention Please. May we have your attention please. Please direct your attention to the scoreboard." I first thought, "oh some dork is about to propose to his girl," really thinking, how sweet. But then my mind jumped to thinking, "Oh Snap, something happened to NYC. We are under attack." After all, during the beginning of the game a NYPD helicopter was flying oddly low around the stadium.

What was going on? What could it be? Then the camera came on. Who was it? Mr. Roger Clemens, the former Yankee Championship Pitcher. After the crowd settled down from the cheering he announced this:

"Well, they came and got me out of Texas, and I can tell you that it's a privilege to be back. I'll be talking to y'all soon."
The crowd was in shock but soon erupted when the score board said, "Roger Clemens is a Yankee." I have never heard the crowd that loud.

For New York and Yankee fans this is big. Sure it's nothing for those of you who do not follow baseball but for the few that can get on board, this was a moment in history that i got to witness.
